dma timeout error with cf card as hard disk....
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:07:23 AM »
Hello,

I like to use an 4gb compact flash card as hard disk. In the first experiment all works, only not so fast as usual. There is an error in dmesg, the start of the pc is very slowly around the error (it waits 1 minute or longer, logs stops).

board: epia (http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/mainboards/motherboards.jsp?motherboard_id=21)
sme 7.3 with start code: smei586 noraid

Does anyone know this problem? And better: have a solution?

with regards, Gert-Jan Verheij

part of dmesg with the error:

Hello,

The problem was the cf reader. The one a used was with out DMA support. I have bought a new one WITH DMA and sme73 works fine,

Greetings Gert-Jan Verheij
