Horde problems - cant login
« on: April 25, 2007, 08:33:06 PM »
Hallo community,

i have a problem. I installed sme server 7.0 and updated it to 7.1.3 and it works very fine, with one exception.

The problem is, that i cant login to Horde via Webmail or pop, so i can`t check the mails. I activated Webmail in the Admin Console.

The entry webmail page is well as normal, and after the correct userid-passwd input, horde tells me, that i am not allowed to access. The same problem with all users, also admin.

I looked to the log files, and they told me, that somebody want to logged in with unknown username and passwd.

For me it seems, that horde don`t know the users and passwds of the sme server. Could it be?

So, perhabs you can help me.

Is this the same thing you reported in bugzilla?  You can't access horde through pop.  Horde is the  webmail interface.  Are you accessing it via https://yourdomain/webmail?  If so, what is in /var/log/messages, /var/log/http/access_log, and /var/log/httpd/error_log from the time you access it, until the time you get the login failure?  Are you sure you haven't added any custom-templates or any other contribs other than smeserver-loginscript.

We know horde works on a fresh SME 7 install else it wouldn't have been released.  If you are using the smeserver-login script from my contribs directory, then I know that works as well because I am using it.

In server-manager/e-mail/e-mail settings, what do you have for pop, imap, and webmail access?  Paste back - config show horde - but leave out the DbPassword, the DbPassword should match the password in horde/config/conf.php.  Paste back config show imp.

That should be enough.

Interestingly I'm having the same login problem on a new installation.

My config files are as follows. POP3 and POP3S work so the username and passoword is fine.

from /var/log/httpd/access_log

energyproducts.co.za 192.168.0.6 - admin [09/May/2007:12:01:21 +0200] "GET /horde/index.php?url=https%3A%2F%2F192.168.0.7%2Fhorde%2Fimp%2Flogin.php%3Fimapuser%3Dhilton%26logout_reason%3Dfailed HTTP/1.1" 302 26 "https://192.168.0.7/webmail/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3"

energyproducts.co.za 192.168.0.6 - admin [09/May/2007:12:01:21 +0200] "GET /horde/imp/login.php?imapuser=hilton&logout_reason=failed HTTP/1.1" 200 2581 "https://192.168.0.7/webmail/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3"

config show horde
horde=service
    access=SSL
    imp=installed
    status=enabled

password is the same as on horde/config/config.php

config show imp
imp=service
    access=SSL
    status=enabled

TIA

I confirm that I have no contribs installed, not even smeserver-loginscript

Should I have that?

No, but you haven't shown enough of the log.  You need to look at in /var/log/messages, /var/log/http/access_log, and /var/log/httpd/error_log from the time you access it and try to login to horde, until the time you get the login failure?

You sure you are using the correct password?  The above line tells it all.  I just tested on my production server using a bad password and get the exact same line you do.

Well what I did now was to change another users password and tried to login.

I'm only using "username" and "password" and not full email address as the username.

Login to the server console and try to - telnet localhost 143 -and see if you get a response.  Reading the posts again, you state that pop3 and pop3s work.  Look at server-manager/e-mail and see what your imap settings are set to.

I tried that with no success but then I checked my IMAP settings and they were set to "disable". I then enabled IMAP and now Webmail is working.

So am I to assume that Webmail is dependant on IMAP? If so, why then is IMAP not automatically enabled when you enable Webmail?

But it's working, not sure if this is a bug or not. If so please say so and I'll check bugzilla.

Thanks John

Well - no one has responded so I'll take that to mean everyone is trying to keep their disapointment in check.

Yes IMAP MUST be enabled for webmail to function. It's clearly stated in the Server Manual, and if you would do just a basic search of the forums, you would see it indicated many times there as well.

mrjhb3 indicated it early on in his post

Well sorry that I disappointed everyone. I just got myself in a tizz where it was working and then suddenly not. I did a lot of reading through this forum but obviously not the server manual. My mistake. BTW it was not me that reported it in bugzilla, someone else.

Thanks for the help though.

Can't login to webmail after a change
« Reply #14 on: July 18, 2007, 08:41:03 PM »
I have looked for days and can't find a solution to this problem. I can't login to webmail after a change in spam settings or if I do any updates. I think it might be related to the ssl certificate. I bought a cert from GoDaddy and now everytime I change something, webmail stops working. I do not have any problems with email coming in through Outlook. I have webail and IMAP enabled in SME admin.
This is what the IMAP/current log file shows:
