Winprint Hylafax - Solved
« on: November 15, 2006, 03:49:32 AM »
Hi All,

Has anyone used Winprint Hylafax with Chaloner's Hylafax installed? I have installed Hylafax and can receive a fax Ok, but I am having trouble finding a suitable client software, I gave up on Relayfax because another post on here says that it isn't compatable with SME 7 so I have downloaded Winprint Hylafax from here: http://winprinthylafax.sourceforge.net I have followed the installation howto but I get a login error, I have tried every user name and password available on my server including root but I still get the same error :?  Has anyone got this working, if so could you share your experience with me. Or can anyone recommend an easy to install and use client (for use on windows). I have installed Hylafax a few times and eventually gave up because I have never got past this stage ie. I have never been able to send only receive   Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Del

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply, I have downloaded Frog Fax Mail and this also asks for a user name and password :?  I am begining to think that something must be wrong in my Hylafax setup  I have assumed that SME users are the same as hylafax users, maybe they aren't  So my next question is, if they are not how or where do I add users to hylafax :?  Any help with this is appreciated.

Regards,
Del

where do I add users to hylafax :?
A generic HylaFAX install would use faxadduser:

I had the same problem ... I added a user ...

Code: [Select]

faxadduser -a adminpass -p userpass -u 100 username

But then ended up just using my own SME User login as the user and pass without adding it to hylafax users ... all works fine now.

I find frog faxmail very usefull as we have an AS400 as well and you can ODBC into it from frog faxmail to get all your fax numbers.

Tib

FYI
winprinthylafax wont handle multiple users logged in on a single PC.
The first user needs to log out for the client to release the port.
This only happens only after the first fax is send to Hylafax from the user. From what I read it is the client limitation after scratching my head for days.

I did use WHFC with multiple users. For manual set-up (without passwords) edit  hosts.hfaxd

# nano /var/spool/hylafax/etc/hosts.hfaxd
localhost
127.0.0.1
^user1pc1@:6001
^user1pc2@:6002
^user2pc1@:6003
^user2pc2@:6004

and so on.

And restart
# /etc/init.d/hylafax restart

For the record we now use HylaF$P, simple and does cover pages but $$.

Hope this helps as well.
Regards,
Steve
