This may be a stupid question but is it possible to set up an ibay and have it point to a hard disk on another machine on the network ?

it should be possible, first make the new ibay, let's call it winshare
then add the this line to /etc/fstab

//server_name/share /home/e-smith/files/ibays/winshare smbfs password:password username:username 0 0 (i think u might have to check that line.)

and that should work for you
