What type of partition is recommended for an extern backupmedia for server 10.x?

If you are talking external HDs, ext3/4 is foolproof, fat also will do the job limitations not withstanding
Added: Which method? Workstation, Console backup, or even affa, backupPC

I will use an extern hdd. And connect it direct to servers usb and use ext3 or 4.

journal is not needed for backup.
also ext 4 might not be supported if formate dusing a really more recent system than centos 7. so ext3 is the safe place.
