DNS entry in server console (SME10)
« on: July 22, 2021, 09:56:06 AM »
Hi All

Just for myself and maybe others understanding.

If I leave this field empty where does the server then get the DNS info from for dhcp (gateway maybe)

If I enter for example 1.1.1.1 it is accepted and seam to work fine.

If I enter 1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8 it clears the entry (error)

Is it not possible to enter multiple dns entries?

/Benny

your server is able to get its own dns entries starting with a seed of the root dns servers.

you can only add one corporate DNS using console. Corporate DNS means you have specific needs for local resolution in situations like your server is behind a double nat.

adding dns such as google’s or other providers will only shortcut the dns solver with generik values from those server.

I'd add that if you're using mail features and SME is your mail server (MX pointing at it), some antispam features won't work correctly because of some BL policies about DNS
