Decreasing SME Server User Base
« on: January 30, 2021, 01:34:36 AM »
Looking at the graph on main page that shows Global deployments, it looks like we have lost over 2300 installations in the last year and a half.
I am not a programmer, so I can't help that way, but I can try to help out with marketing. This will bring more users to our community bringing more willing hands to help out.
Any thoughts?
SME user and community member since 2005.

Come and talk to us on Rocket.

Just PM or mail me for a login.

Those of us involved have been too busy building v10 to worry about anything else so be nice to have someone take it up.

I can relate - in fact, I came by to say Good Bye. Started using E-Smith back in 1999.  Learned it - deployed it - supported the installations in several different businesses I was part of.  Had a flavor running in my home since that startup.

Shut down my server this last week. Using a piece of ready-made hardware to do the needed work.

Freenas does my file server work, no more email to support, no more websites to support.  Been an important part of my Linux life, and I have been a full-time IT tech since 2002.

I remember distinctly - Charlie Brady telling me to use the search engine and find the answer - it's listed there - don't bother us till you have exhausted your search. Originally that turned me off, but it was a good lesson that I needed to learn, and now I find most answers without contacting tech support.

758 days till full retirement. Gives you all an idea of what's next for me - short-timers disease.
Some would say it seems like a long way away - it will go by faster than you think
