SME 10 beta 1 soon
« on: November 12, 2020, 01:50:22 PM »
We are currently migrating most services to systemd as a last step before entering to beta cycle.
In the meantime we plan to finish to integrate the needed bits to limit the need to reboot on update of most packages.

We expect this by the end of the month. If all goes well we would have a RC by the end of the year, and hopefully final release soon after.

If you are willing to help to keep the delays short, please contact John to join Rocket Chat instance or follow the bugs.

The migration to systemd is a sensitive state, every update needs testers to make the everything still works great: the service itself, ability to enable or disable, logs for the service still redirected correctly, or even jeeping the server to boot correctly.

as always and more now, help needed !

If people want to see a v10 soon then PLEASE help test and verify.

The few of us actually working on this are flat out and we desperately need help.

It isn't difficult. Just test the changes as we make them. You just need to be organised and methodical.

Please speak to us.
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.

If you have the resource use a VM makes for quicker turnarounds, baremetal is fine just a little slower, either way jump in

Go to Bugzilla - Matrix - SME10.x - Resolved, and pick one :-) update packages are in smetest/smeupdates-testing/smedev check the listing for the latest one..do your best
use the Dashboard - Resolved https://wiki.contribs.org/Dashboard#tab=SME_Server_10_Alpha
and again pick one

Contribs also has an increasing number of packages ported over to sme10 that need testing

Have fun, it can be just that fun

Could you please set me up with a Rocket Chat account so I can hopefully help out a bit.
Thanks, Lloyd
