NextCloud addons
« on: August 19, 2020, 01:29:42 AM »
While searching for NextCloud app on my phone, Besides main NextCloud app, there are also NextCloud Talk, NextCloud Deck, NextCloud Notes, NextCloud Passwords.
In order for these apps to work, corresponding extensions need to be installed on the server.
Does anyone know if this is possible on SME Server.

I went to nextcloud.com and when looking for notes app, it took me to https://github.com/nextcloud/notes
In there it tells me:

"In your Nextcloud, simply navigate to »Apps«, choose the category »Office«, find the Notes app and enable it. Then open the Notes app from the app menu."

When I go to MY-IP/nextcloud , after logging in, I don't see anything about Apps.

I've installed nextcloud notes ok on sme9.2 but don't remember anything extra needing to be installed on the server apart from the actual addon.
I looked at nextcloud talk but, from memory, the required packages don't run on centos 6. I also had concerns about the amount of bandwidth it required if accessed over the internet.
Haven't looked at deck or passwords. (I use password safe for my passwords and just sync the password file between devices.)

Log into nextcloud as an admin user (either admin, or whatever you have configured as an admin user).
Top right of web page click on round icon (typically a circle with the first letter of your user name on it).
On the drop down menu select 'apps'
Knock your socks of choosing the apps to install.  :-D

Ahh, I thought I have setup myself as an admin user, apparently I did not.
Logging in as "admin" did the trick.
thank you and sorry for false alarm

You need to be part of the admin group in nextcloud.

FWIW I use DAVx5 to sync calendar and contacts on android devices and obtain it via 'F-Droid' which bypasses google apps.
