HDDs were /dev/hd in 8.2 and are now are /dev/sd in 9.2

Running a small server for a non-profit. It has 2 x 300GB ide disks and 1 x 500GB ide disk.

I followed the migration instructions and have all user and ibay backup dars on the 500GB HDD.
  • I performed a console backup to an external USB disk from the 8.2 server.
  • I disconnected the 300GB mirrored HDD and the 500GB backup HDD.
  • I installed 9.2 on the same physical system.
  • In the process I restored from the external USB disk.
Everything came back up and appears to be running fine.  My concern, however, is that the three HDDs that were /dev/hda, /dev/hdc, and /dev/hdb all show up and mount as /dev/sda, sdc, and sdb.  These are all ide drives and not sata drives.

What did I do wrong?

TIA,
Jim

Does it all work?
All files/users data back and avail?
You can yum update? there is a bit there :-)

Then I think a pat on the back is in order as you appear to have done everything RIGHT far from wrong :-)

I think its just the way SME9 talks to you, SME8 was a long time ago :-) changes to kernels etc

Have fun... :-)

Added: there is a technical explanation do a google on say - EL6 why sda not hda
