Install from scratch testing raid setup - II
« on: April 15, 2020, 11:20:48 AM »
Installed Alpha4

Vmware WS - 2HDD 40 GB - 2 GB RAM

First install confirm that there is no automatic creation of a RAID1 set.
Second install I did a manual partitioning for RAID1, not sure if correct from SMEs poin of view:
Quote
/ - /boot - swap
as I usually configure standard Centos servers. No LVM .... bad thing ?

As final result: (cat /proc/mdstat):
Quote
[root@sme10-alpha4-1 ~]# cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1]
md125 : active raid1 sdb2[1] sda2[0]
      2097152 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
md126 : active raid1 sda3[0] sdb3[1]
      37710848 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
      bitmap: 1/1 pages [4KB], 65536KB chunk
md127 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdb1[1]
      2099136 blocks super 1.0 [2/2] [UU]
      bitmap: 0/1 pages [0KB], 65536KB chunk
unused devices: <none>

The installation went fine; some trouble with the first "yum update", after reboot I got an error: the system it was stuck at ‘Starting Switch root’ and would go no further.
According to this:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1492208
I did this change:
Quote
mount -o remount,rw /sysroot
cd /sysroot/usr/lib
ln -s os.release.d os-release.d
exit
At first reboot the system was still hanging on a subsequent reboot the system came up and completed update expanding templates but, to be honest, I'm not really aware of what happened.

RAID: the console does not detect that a RAID exists and presently the raidmonitor log is filling with such messages:
Quote
2020-04-15 11:11:36.193013500 mdadm: Only one autorebuild process allowed in scan mode, aborting
I don't know if this is related to the fact that presently SME is not find a RAID configured as he espects.

First round of test completed, going to check file-access funcionalities.

The RAID issue is known.

Please, check the bugs to save duplication of effort and wasting your time.

Posting issues here is not very helpful.

There are pages on how to test on the wiki. Please read them.

Even better is to ask me for a login to Rocket.Chat and talk to us directly. We can give you specific tasks and assistance which will benefit us all.

Catton has done a lot of work on the install/boot and would appreciate a hand....
...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
