Error 13 : unsupported exucutable format
« on: March 19, 2020, 10:46:48 AM »
Hi everyone, this morning I am facing big trouble. I was about to install a Licensing server on the box and I restarted.
After restart I couldn't boot into system. The system halts by the error :
Error 13 : Unsupported Executable format.
I tried to boot by the old kernel but it says Kernal panic.
What is the best action to take into play to restore the booting process.?

You have one issue, and only really need one thread. Opening new ones will confuse people as they cannot see the history that got you to this point and you just peoples waste time.

Code: [Select]
I was about to install a Licensing server on the box and I restarted
"About to" or "DID" install something on there?

Seems from a quick search on the interwebs for "Error 13 : Unsupported Executable format" it may have trashed your kernel or boot record. A lot of licence checkers write to what they *think* are spare sectors on the boot record without checking - Adobe are famous for doing this.

So my guess is you were sent a file that you executed that trashed your system.

The licence file that you have been given is clearly not designed for your system. Did you check with the supplier that it would work on your system?

Exactly what software and has it been checked against RHEL6 compatibility?

You will probably need a rescue disk to restore your server. Or a backup.

1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
