Hi Guys,

I would like to ask for help Ubuntu 18.04.2 join SME server 9.1 domain.
So far winxp, win7, and win10 (cca 150 pc).
This ubuntu is a new attempt. First Linux Machine in domain.

I followed this description: https://wiki.contribs.org/Client_Authentication:Ubuntu#Ubuntu_12.04_LTS_Authentication

However, I get problem at the beginning:
Edited etc/samba/smb.conf, the testparm results:

root@stavipclinux:/etc/samba# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)

Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions...

No error message, just warning :)

At a guess that Wiki page is seriously out of date.

First, check the SMB version your client uses. See Windows & Samba issues and bugs here and in the bug tracker.

So for simplicity set the authentication to the same as the.server... NT1 I think.

Check on the newer smb.conf syntax and update as required.

Get your testparm happy and then try. Afraid I never used it so can't help much more.

Alternatively I have used this for a number of years, currently on 16.04 and will test shortly on 18.04 but imagine it will work.

The only thing I never got round to fixing was the update notifier doesn't popup with a domain user, only a local one.

One day....

1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
