Hi,

I am trying to connect to a Win 10 client with Remote Desktop behind SME9.2 with OpenVPN-Bridge installed.
I thought this was straight forward but no...

I have tried connecting with portforward on port 3389 and that works perfect. But that is not the way i want to go.

I noticed i can ping SME it self but nothing else so there must be something i need to configure on OpenVPN-bridge. I already did redirectGW to always.

Any ideas?

Thanks

NOTHING to do with VPNs is straightforward. Ever.

Once they are properly configured and work OK then they are fine. The difficult bit is learning how to set them up.

You are going to have to give a lot more detail on your setup to get much help.

How is your server configured, how is openvpn configured, what client are you using?

...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.

I will tell you everything i know !

SME 9.2 in server/gateway mode. (running on Vmvare esxi 6.5)
openvpn-bridge contrib installed. Set up and running with certificates, no problems to connect.

The client is a win 7 machine with OpenVPN GUI installed.

The destination is a Win 10 client (running on Vmvare esxi 6.5) with Remote Desktop activated and the purpose is to log in to that machine remote.

I don't see any options to change configurations in the server-manager panel except adding a client rule for gateway redirecting. But i have set that to "always" in the db configuration: "db configuration setprop openvpn-bridge redirectGW always".

Maybe i have misunderstood the function of Openvpn-bridge? Maybe it can not make a passthroug to a client on the network ?

Thanks

You are going to have to tell us a bit more about how you have your networking set up.

I have a feeling ESXi can be a bit tricky with internal networking.

So, what are the network settings for SME?

Hi,

It's been a while.... :-)

But now i figured out the problem.  There was actually a little note hidden in the contrib page for Openvpn-bridge. So far down the page that i missed it. It referres to old versions of VMware but also apllies to new versions.

The virtual networkswitch for the LAN has to be set to promiscous mode.

As simpel as that....

Have a good summer!
