DHCP Option 66
« on: October 01, 2018, 12:38:32 PM »
Hi
Can someone please explain how I might use this with SME server? I need it to point to a voip server. I believe I need to have a template to do this, but find it all rather confusing though lack of understanding.
Any pointers would be really great.

Thanks
Paul.

Cancel that, think I solved it.
Created a small template in the custom-templates/dhcpd.conf
called it 25DHCPOption66
And put this in it:-
Option tftp-server-name 10.81.0.4;
Expanded and restarted the service. Seems to have stuck this time.... Now for some testing with these Polycomm phones!

I've used the tftpd contrib for years.....

Handy for phones etc etc.

Actually I have too, but in this instance due to the way the new Sark / Sail system works, it stores the phone configs dynamically. So you can have different makes, that all config in their own way, pretty impressive. Up to now been using Snoms, really easy with http config, but the Polycomms I laid my hands on are ftp only.

Yup - I have global and individual configs for phones - was using old Mitel ones (ironically) and now with a bunch of grandstreams via tftp.

Loads both configs and firmware as required.
