Is this due to some package I may have installed?

Thanks Paul

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with extra packages from say Geoip 2

I'm currently in the UK as my mother is seriously ill so a bit out of the loop right now.

I'll look if I get 5 mins but in the meantime see if you can traceback through the depends. Where did perl-Apache-Test come from??

Funnily enough, I have installed the Geoip on a few of my SME's. However, need to check one I have not installed to confirm it is the Geoip package.

Hope your Mom gets better soon :-(

Mother - thanks.

Daniel has patched this so there should be a fix en route PDQ.

Please see the bug.

I'm still getting this error.   My mirrors are:  mirror.canada.pialasse.com

I noticed in Bugzilla, that Daniel B. suggests to Terry Fage that:  "Remove the smetest cache cookie and try again a bit later" after Terry said he was still receiving the error.

So, can someone tell me how to remove the smetest cache cookie?

Thanx.

Go to the bug, and look at the verification that I have done, you  will find the correct syntax for updating from smetest, standard yum update won't do the job

Have I go this right? Bit confused about the which part in the bug you were referring to, so took it as your post.

Over a month later..

The update is now in smeupdates you don't need to reference smetest..

http://mirror.canada.pialasse.com/releases/9/smeupdates/x86_64/RPMS/mod_perl-2.0.4-12.1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm

a straight # yum update should do the trick if not

What do you see if you do:

rpm -e --test perl-Apache-Test

?

Do you know why perl-Apache-Test from the rpmforge repo is installed?

If you remove it (rpm -e perl-Apache-Test) then your mod_perl update will succeed.

Mr Brady Sir, here is the info.

rpm -e --test perl-Apache-Test
error: Failed dependencies:
perl(Apache::Test) is needed by (installed) spamassassin-3.4.1-1.el6.sme.x86_64

And secondly no idea? Must have been a package I removed at some stage. Would removing it stop SpamAssasin?

At a guess bloody oath :-)

While I would defer to Charlie in just about anything to do with the ins and outs of SMEserver.

I would have thought...

First: # /sbin/e-smith/audittools/repositories - check results post here if unsure

Make sure that smeupdates is present if it is but disabled then # db yum_repositories setprop smeupdates status enabled

and run # yum update..

if not then reset repos to defaults, its all in the wiki, https://wiki.contribs.org/Yum:restoring_default_repositories

and run # yum update..

Prepared to banish myself if above is a furphy :-)

The supposed dependency on Apache::Test is bogus:

charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads/spamassassin $ rpm2cpio spamassassin-3.4.1-1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm | cpio -id
8046 blocks
charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads/spamassassin $ grep -r Apache::Test .
Binary file ./spamassassin-3.4.1-1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm matches
charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads/spamassassin $ ls
etc  spamassassin-3.4.1-1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm  usr  var
charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads/spamassassin $

However, I don't think that matters. I can see the smeupdates repo contains a newer mod_perl rpm which doesn't contain those conflicting files, so wouldn't require you to remove perl-Apache-Test:

charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads $ rpm -qlp mod_perl-2.0.4-12.1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm | grep Apache::
warning: mod_perl-2.0.4-12.1.el6.sme.x86_64.rpm: Header V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 1e9c9308: NOKEY
charlieb@localhost:~/Downloads $

Sorry for my Tardy response, poor wifey was in hospital, and this was the least of my problems.

Have I misunderstood that this is fixed? or was there something else I was expected to do to cure this? Totally lost the train of thought, sorry :-(

Have I misunderstood that this is fixed? or was there something else I was expected to do to cure this? Totally lost the train of thought, sorry :-(

You are still not pulling from smeupdates, that is where the package is..

As I in previous post...

First #  /sbin/e-smith/audittools/repositories

to make sure you actually have smeupdates configured

My repos

[root@fagehome ~]#  /sbin/e-smith/audittools/repositories

then

Make sure that smeupdates is present if it is but disabled then

# db yum_repositories setprop smeupdates status enabled

then (didn't show this in last post)

# signal-event yum-modify

and run

# yum update..

If smeupdates is not listed then you will have to add it back

Well that was odd, it was actually there! I did follow your earlier instructions. Did a signal-event etc, tried again and it has worked! Brilliant thank you all for the help.

No worries mate :-) my fault by omission, not including the # signal-event yum-modify
the first time round..
