backup of everything but DATA
« on: September 28, 2018, 03:24:25 PM »
Hi,

I'd like to upgrade from SME8 to SME9 on same HW. There are no NEW server available.
But I have a new bigger disk (one).

So I think about this procedure:
a) remove disk2 (RAID 1 mirror) and install NEW BIGGER DISK (disk3)
b) mirror again (disk1 -->disk3)
c) shutdown and remove both disks (disk1 &3), install disk2
d) install SME9 on disk2
e) after everything is fine, connect disk3 on USB or internally and copy data from disk3 to 1.

That's all easy... I can do it...just take time... and I have all weekend to do it! :D

But because there are a few clients Win10 v1803 on production (they joined domain before to be 1803) I'll have problems with these machines.
So I'd like to "clone" domain info and trust.
I'm aware about domain SID and have copies of that... but I'm not sure about all other info I'd copy/clone to make new SME9 behave same way old SME8.
The final GOAL is to keep all clients trusting relation with SME server.

Can someone help me about this ? Regards,
(I'm a very old user of AFFA, but AFAIK it's not an option on this case, because I have no NEW HW)

Read the wiki. Something like this I think:

...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
