Workstation backup and sets
« on: September 09, 2018, 10:21:49 AM »
Mmmmm

Just doing an upgrade to bigger disks, and decided before I do anything that I should take another backup to workstation.
Never watched before it before. Let me explain. I have 3 sets which I can see on the nas location for the server backup. Normally this works well. However today, when I need it the most! It has created the backups in the root of the folder, rather than one of then sets? is that normal? does it create the set after the backup?
Must admit have seen this before on others servers, all I have done is remove all the sets, and reconfigure the backup.
Advice?

Best wishes Paul.

Yes while in progress Backup to Wkstn creates the backup set in the root of the folder when complete it deletes the old set and moves the new set into the appropriate folder..

This is why you can sometimes have space issues as you need to have enough space when a full backup is run to hold any old full backups plus any incrementals plus the new full backup, then oldest is deleted and new is moved to replace it.
