The things you come across
« on: May 31, 2018, 07:48:03 AM »
Have been searching for docs on the old CoovaAP an OpenWRT-based firmware designed especially for HotSpots..

Have been using it in a NFP situation providing free wifi for about 4 years, it works OK and its free :-)

Anyway was searching back in the dim past on their old mail lists and came across this..

https://coova.github.io/mail-archive/chilli/2009-April/000664.html

A familiar identity :-)

By the way if anyone has a complete copy of the old CoovaAP docs I would be forever grateful, reading them using the wayback pages is a tad slow :-)

I used https://grasehotspot.org/ for a while for someone.

Can run it on fairly low end hardware. Based on Coova with a load of extras I think.

Worth a try on a Pi or similar I guess.

Thanks mate, currently using CoovaAP on a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router easily setup and does the job..

Unfortunately CoovaAP disappeared a couple of years ago, never to be seen again :-( so no new versions and the old website has had all the CoovaAP stuff deleted, bummer..

openwrt / LEDE (remerged) have a coovachilli package ?

But seems they think it is a bit too heavy for that AP.

Time for an upgrade ?? :-)

The Muppets???

The least you could have come up with was a Monty Python skit, there must be one that is relevant, and no not the parrot :-)

and I thought I should have received some back slapping for cunningly working in a Beatles link when answering another issue here: https://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,53607.0.html
