nslookup doesn't relove NAS drive
« on: April 26, 2018, 02:52:54 PM »
Hi everybody, we have a NAS drive Netgear configured with a static ip address and connected to the sme 9.2 server with the same ip address range. When I ping using the name of the NAS drive it says "unknown host nasdrivename".
And the message of nslookup is ** server can't find nasdrivename: NXDOMAIN.

In the nasdrive configuration interface there is only one method to connect to Active directory Domain.
I enter the Netbios name in the configuration windows of Nas drive but it doesn't relove name.

Additionally, I have installed contribs - dhcpdns, dhcp manager but while other pcs those are joined to domain, properly configured and work, but nasdrive doesn't.

Any help from you.....?

go to server-manager -> hostname and addresses -> add your nas as your_nas_name.yourdomain.local (or whatever your domain is)
be sure to use SME as your DNS.
If SMe is not the dns server in your lan:
- create the record above (your_nas_name.yourdomain.local) in your DNS
- configure your SME to use your DNS

Thank you very much Stefano. Did the exact as you advised. Now I can ping and nslookup by the name. As my server in local LAN, the process was quicck. Have a good evening.
