Topic: disk redundancy error

When I updated from 8 to 9.2 I did making a backup which I restored to a larger drive, then inserted the 2nd and in administration had them synchronize which was taking many hours, but am getting the message "Manual Intervention may be required". I am seeing that disk 1 appears to have more blocks than disk 2 so was thinking perhaps disk 1 is larger so not able to syncronize (2 different brands of disk though supposedly the same size)

The new disks are less than 1/2 full ,

Suggestions as I make a 50 mile trip tonight to correct my mistake?

My guess is you installed sme 9 with only one drive as degraded raid and are now trying to sync a second drive in this array.

This can only work if the new drive has exactly the same number of block or more. However i would suggest exact same number.
So you need to find same drive.

Alternatively  two biggers than the one in place. Then you can replace the first with the two new one in two step : sync the second one, remove first add third and sync second and third.

What disk sizes are you talking about?

fdisk -l

When you restored on to the new disk did you use the full disk (wondering if you have any spare space)?

I think block size is determined in the partition table (search the interwebs for disk block size). If the drives are the same you could use sfdisk to copy the tables over - search the wiki for sfdisk and RAID - and then manually add/sync the partitions.

Clone speed... depends on your board, drive type and size etc. How much data and what speeds are reported?
