Shinobi IP Webcam monitoring
« on: September 13, 2017, 03:46:44 PM »
Well I was stuck on some PHP and starting to slit my wrists so I decided to give my brain a break :-)

I was interested in some IP web cam monitoring software and found Shinobi. OK, so it is node, and JS, and all that jazz. But I managed to get it installed on SME v9 very easily :-)

https://wiki.contribs.org/Shinobi_IP_Camera_Monitoring

I am testing it with a little old Android phone installed with BL IP-Camera free and it works quite well :-)

Enjoy.

Zoneminder is a really good piece of software if you want to go this way...

Used to have a contrib

I was bored and wanted a laugh...

It was actually very easy to install without too many dependencies and without interfering with anything (unlike zoneminder which I believe doesn't work well with some stuff)

I'd be interested to try and compare though if you have a contrib kicking about.

I can see a manual install here https://wiki.contribs.org/Zoneminder

I only wanted it for IP cameras which I didn't think need any modules. My test cam is an old Gingerbread phone with an old version of BL IP-camera!!

Happy to have a look at ZM, or lob it in CVS

Zoneminder works well. I have put my notes from a production server with 5 IP camera's here https://wiki.contribs.org/Zoneminder
