Gen 8 better value than the Gen 10, but it was the fact ClearOS is preloaded, considering its history and SME.

from HP website:
ClearOS will be available for preload on HPE ProLiant ML110, ML30, and DL20 servers making these servers ready to use right out of the box. HPE is also making ClearOS available for download and installation via Intelligent Provisioning on all ProLiant servers 300 series and below. ClearOS is available to download from HPE.com.

I looked at it when there was the breakaway, as a sme dafty I stayed with sme. That was shad days? Ive been with sme as a user since sme 7 beta. Set up a company that ran on it. (securitywarehouse) I do support the project even though I dont have the badge

Yes, shad days, plenty of murky water during that period, latter days of sme7 and start of sme8

Id say its a bad idea for anyone with no clue even with sme to have that (clearos) installed. Id assume it will backfire but its a shame for the sme team too. Was that part of the goal for commercial success?

Clear have always been more commercially minded. There are a number of factors involved but I won't bore you with history :-)

Koozali SME has strived to be independent and financially stable.

There is plenty of solid reliable cheap secondhand kit about. The single fly in the ointment was their decision to force you to cough cash for firmware updates.

Other than that I run my business and home on secondhand HP kit. However I'll think twice before my next purchase and will look at manufacturers who aren't quite so tight.....

LOL. Same old same old. Seen it all before (and unpleasantly close up). IRA, Basques yadeeya. If it isn't one bunch of nutters it'll be another

Ironically Greg was down there 2 days before so he's feeling a tad lucky :-)

Anyways, the one thing you never do is be terrified, or change one iota of what you do.  If you do, you lost.

If they get me, so be it. In reality I'm more likely to be killed by a bee sting. And far more likely to die in a car crash (1.25 MILLION people died in car crashes in 2013 WHO data. So far in 2017 terrorists have got a little over 200).

So give in to those annoying ticks? Never.
