In Webmail junkmail folder not showing in folder listing
« on: March 07, 2017, 06:09:01 PM »
I'm in the process of setting up my new v9.1 server. Down to just the email setup. When I log into webmail for any user, the junkmail folder is not listed in the sidebar.

I have verified the /home/e-smith/files/users/{username}/Maildir/.junkmail folder as well as the cur, new, and tmp folders all exist for each user. I believe the .junkmail folder got created when I set the server to sort junkmail.

Anyways, I did not do a restore when I setup this server. I am configuring it manually. Each user was created from the userpanel and I'm using the version of horde that comes with 9.1.

My process up to this point is to setup each user in horde because when I check Use IMAP subscriptions, things work better for me with iPhones and Andriod phones. I also don't like a few other settings but that's just my preference. I normally create Sent, Drafts, and Trash and then setup the options to sort to each folder including the spam to junkmail. When I get to the Sort Spam to part, the dropdown list also does not contain the junkmail folder. If I select create a folder and name it junkmail, I get the folder already exists error which is what I would expect to happen. I can do all folder functions on other folders; create, rename, delete, etc but junkmail is just not showing up.

I looked in /var/log/messages and can see where I'm logging into imp.
I don't have an imap or imaps log which I thought was interesting. Maybe because I'm not using the server yet so no connections to log. IMAPS is enabled in the mail panel and webmail is set for local networks.
I have an error in the dovecot log that I can't find information I can understand. I don't think it applies though.

I'm going to continue looking through the forums for answers but wanted to post this in case someone has already worked this situation out.

I've got an update. On first login, the folder is there. If I do anything to create or setup a folder, junkmail drops off the folder listing. Folder permissions stay the same before and after it disappears.

AFAIK folders are created both by dovecot and by email client

that's why, using different email client, you can have Junk, Junkmail and other "duplicated" folders (sent, sent-mail ecc)

If I delete the folder in the filesystem then recreate it, it works. I have only ever logged into this account with webmail up to this point. Users don't even have passwords so they can't be logging in either. It's a very strange problem. I'm having similar issues with the Sent and Trash folders. Basically using webmail->options to define folders for Sent, Spam, Drafts, etc as each user is intermittent. The folder is always created but it doesn't always show up in the panel on the right side of the webmail page.

What I'm doing as a work around is trying to create each folder. If it doesn't show up in the side bar, I delete the folder in the filesystem and re-create it. It usually works the second time.

Ok. I think I'll let it go then. I was trying to make the setup easier but no one actually uses webmail here anyways. I just like having everything setup. Thanks for the input.
