Clam AV Exceptions on e-mail
« on: December 01, 2016, 07:25:27 PM »
An email with a PDF attachment from a trusted source keeps getting blocked by ClamAV and getting the following

552 Virus Found: Pdf.Exploit.CVE_2016_6988-1

Is there anyway to do exceptions or "whitelist" things to let this through?

this is potentially harmful and I suggest you first check avout this CVE : https://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2016-6988 , http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2016-6988 ,

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Adobe Reader DC. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The specific flaw exists within the handling of XFA AFDriver objects. The issue lies in the failure to properly validate the existence of an object prior to performing operations on it. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of the current process.

your trusted source might have been compromised. I suggest you update to a non vulnerable version of adobe before proceding to any whitelisting.
