I'd like to install OpenVPN on an SME9.1.

There is: https://wiki.contribs.org/OpenVPN but this is for SME7 & SME8. Or should I use the SME8 instructions and repos?

I need to upload some text files that I want to use and update remotely. Like a small cloud, without going through the big install and maintain of owncloud. Is there a better solution?

Thanks

Syv

Since it's from many location, I need routing and NAT. How would that work with the bridge?

Thanks

ElFrogio,

I used the Openvpn as per the link you posted but had issues with V8 & V9.

In the contribs section, Firewall Services has posted 3 variants to the openvpn scene. I have tried them all. They all work, are very reliable and they all have good instructions.

If you are using an Android tablet or iPad, you must use a routed configuration as those devices do NOT support the TAP adapter which is required for a bridged configuration. The most challenging part of the setup was the client on the android device, due to only scanty instructions and certificate management. Once I got my head around it, the task became very easy. PHPKi is an enormous help also. The end result is extremely reliable.

Whether you use a bridged or a routed configuration depends on your remote hardware and your requirements of a vpn. Unfortunately you do not include enough information in your post to allow further comment.

I am probably of same mind as Jean-Philippe Pialasse in suggesting the bridge contrib.

I have no experience in putting the client on  Linux platform so I cant comment.

Good Luck

Hello,

I have installed openvpn in bridge mode on SME Server 9.1 x64, and it works perfectly.
For iOS Iphone I want to install OpenVPN in routed mode, but I get the following error:

smeserver-yum install openvpn-routed --enablerepo = fws, smecontribs
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, smeserver

Where can I get smeserver-openvpn-routed?

Thank you!
