VirtualBox on Ubuntu
« on: September 24, 2016, 08:03:33 PM »
I know its not a SME issue but i have sme guests on it, im just out of ideas other than starting again. The only reason im using ubuntu as a host is because i wanted to use raid 10 on 6 drives to help with disk speed.

Last night i tried to update from 5.0.5 to 5.1.x
And i have taotally wrecked it.
It seems I have it working now (but i cant tell from the command line) but phpvirtualbox isnt working.
I have uninstalled it many times and reinstalled but im obviously missing something.

I have looked at the http error log and there is nothing in there.
There is no log for vbox web services

Any help please?

James

Lol yes I know.
I don't know where to look I'm used to some server just working etc.

I upgraded vb to 6.1.6 and Ubuntu to 16.04.1

Once it was upgraded phpvirtualbox just shows a dialog with php errors.

What I don't know how to check that vb is actually working.
In hindsight I should just of left it alone.

Thanks for looking thon

James

Do you have a monitor and a GUI on the Ubuntu system?  Can you run the regular VirtualBox GUI rather than phpVirtualBox?  That would at least help narrow down the problem, whether it's with VirtualBox itself or with phpVirtualBox.

It's a wise man that has second thoughts first :-)

1. Read the Manual
