Restore Domain Controller going from v8 to v9?
« on: February 04, 2017, 10:33:17 PM »
Hi there ...

I've recently built an sme 8.2 server at home and turned it into an NT style domain controller.  I've three or four machines connected to it (win8.1 and win10's) that my wife and I use.

I've seen where upgrading from current sme (8.x) to the newer v9 requires a clean install and a backup / restore is highly suggested.  My question is - has anyone tried this with domain connected clients?  Will they still "belong to the domain" post upgrade and restore or will I have to unjoin / rejoin each machine after the fact?

Anyone know?  Curious and thanks ...

Alll machine accounts & user configuration is included in backup & restore since at least sme3.x so OK for you.
