[Solved] Issues with access to .ics (calendar) files on SME9?
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:12:00 AM »
Hi

have researched the forums but seem not to be able to find an answer yet.

We have upgraded an SME8 server to SME9 and one of the ibays has several .ics files (in the html subdir) that users are accessing from Thunderbird (Lightning add-on actually) as calendars via URL http://<server>/<ibay>/filename.ics. (have also tried https:// without success).

This worked well under SME8 for read/write calendar access but seems different under SME9. When adding the calendar to Thunderbird, calendar entries are seen initially but when trying to make a first change, non-helpfull error message appears (Sorry, have not recorded exact message yet).

Is someone else experiencing this?

Thanks,
Michael

You can't update calendars like this without webdav support, so my guess is that you had webdav enabled on the old SME8, and not on the new server. See https://wiki.contribs.org/DAV (you can also try the Shared Folder contribs which includes webdav support too)
C'est la fin du monde !!!

Thank you so much Daniel. I should have known that - now I feel a little stupid.
Yes, that was the solution to fix this suspected "upgrade issue".

Thanks again. I hope your skills will stay with SME server for a long  time.
