Docker kernel requirement
« on: January 02, 2016, 11:10:47 PM »
Will I be able to use Docker on SME 9.1?

From https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation/binaries/
"Docker in daemon mode has specific kernel requirements. ...
A 3.10 Linux kernel is the minimum requirement for Docker."

CentOS 7 is ok.

But AFAICT SME 9.1 is based on CentOS 6.7 and uses a 2.6 kernel? True?

Hi, welcome here

yes, you're right, SME 9.X is based on Centos 6.x branch and so we're using a 2.6.x kernel.

anyway, take a look here: http://wiki.contribs.org/Docker

Also see this:
http://www.projectatomic.io/blog/2015/07/docker-centos-6-and-you/

Based on that and the fact that it will no longer be supported on CentOS 6 as of docker 1.8.x the wiki probably ought to be updated
...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
