to receive emails you need to setup your MX priority at highest level, i.e. at lower value (priority 5 is better than 10)

sending emails has nothing to do with your MX setup, so your question doesn't make sense :-)

...and if your server is the only MX record, it doesn't matter what the priority is for receiving either.  It could be 0, it could be 100, or any other valid value.  The priority value only matters if there's more than one MX handler.

your domain's mx record has nothing to do with sending.

For receiving, you don't even need an MX record. If your domain has no MX records, and your domain has an A record, then all mail will be sent to the IP address listed in your A record, via port 25 or 465. If your domain has one MX record, then that IP address will be used in preference to the IP address in the A record. Only if you have more than one MX record does priority matter. Do not have more than one MX record for your domain.

Dear All

Ahmedsa was previously given advice to remove the second MX record  in this thread:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,51682.0/nowap.html
(which apparently pointed at a misconfigured server).

It looks like it has NOT been fixed, but it also looks like there is a wrong configuration generally
ie using mserver.altawi.com & altawi.com.sa pointing at different IPs (????)
See
http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?ismobile=0#
which shows
mx:altawi.com.sa
0 mserver.altawi.com.sa 78.93.244.61
1 altawi.com.sa 212.93.222.10

I think that the changes needed here are to rename the SME server main domain to
altawi.com.sa (instead of mserver.altawi.com.sa)
& to change external MX records to have either no entries (which is acceptable to SME server requirements), or only one entry which shows
mx:altawi.com.sa
0 altawi.com.sa 78.93.244.61
(I used 78.93.244.61 as that is what ahmedsa said the server IP is in the other thread).

Do others agree ?

It seems at the moment that 78.93.244.61 is not resolving (times out with 110 error), so there is also something wrong with DNS, or the physical connection, I am not sure which or what ???
Also http://212.93.222.10 gives an error at http://212.93.222.10/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi

altawi.com.sa does resolve to a website
mserver.altawi.com.sa does NOT resolve & times out, so I think that server is down or connecting intermittently, so that could explain intermiitent mail problems

Well your server was non responsive, no website, no smtp, no response to its WAN IP.
So what did you or someone do to get the server to be responsive eg reboot, change cables, change something ????
I note the MX record priority for altawi.com.sa points firstly to mserver.altawi.com.sa & if that is down, then mail goes to altawi.com.sa, a different server.
I a guessing you host the website on one server (altawi.com.sa) & the mail is processed by another server (mserver.altawi.com.sa).
So that means that if mserver.altawi.com.sa SME server is down or non responsive, then all
Incoming mail will be sent to the web hosting server at altawi.com.sa, & maybe the mail is just disappearing into a bit bucket or null or sitting uncollected in email accounts on that web hosting server.

You need to advise us what the physical arrangement is, we can only guess.

So if your SME server at mserver.altawi.com.sa was down (which it was) then that would explain the lost or disappearing mail.
You need to tell us more if your question is to be answered sensibly
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

Despite all the advice we have given you, you still have two mx records. Your mail will sometimes go to altawi.com.sa (212.93.222.10) and sometimes to mserver.altawi.com.sa (78.93.244.61). Unless you are 100% certain that your webhost provider (212.93.222.10) will correctly forward email to your server at 78.93.244.61, you must delete the mx record named altawi.com.sa.

You appear to be very stubborn. I cannot be bothered to try to help you any more.

Something is wrong, probably with external DN records &/or nameservers, you need to talk to whoever is in charge of your external DNS records & you need to talk to whoever is in charge of your nameservers for altawi.com.sa.

That is a similar issue to what I experienced in earlier testing
When I use Firefox web browser pointed at http://altawi.com.sa
- altawi.com.sa does resolve to a website
When I use Firefox web browser pointed at http://212.93.222.10
- Also http://212.93.222.10 gives an error at http://212.93.222.10/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
I cannot explain what is causing that to happen, ask your external DNS tech support people.

Can you clarify, is altawi.com.sa domain hosted on another external web server, which is hosting the web site only ?
This domain name has a different IP asssociated with it ie 212.93.222.10, but last time I checked that was not resolving in a web browser.
(by this I mean a server other than server at IP 78.93.244.61 with domain mserver.altawi.com.sa).

Regarding your earlier comments
Quote
....what you mean server is down

how it down i check it when send or receiving is down i found my server turn on

Well CAREFULLY read the result of my testing earlier in this thread in this post:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,51954.msg265330.html#msg265330

When I use Firefox web browser pointed at http://78.93.244.61
- It seems at the moment that 78.93.244.61 is not resolving (times out with 110 error)...
When I use Firefox web browser pointed at http://mserver.altawi.com.sa
- mserver.altawi.com.sa does NOT resolve & times out....
so I think that server is down or connecting intermittently, so that could explain intermittent mail problems

Another indication that your SME server at mserver.altawi.com.sa was down, is that an smtp test failed
ie
Using online tools at http://mxtoolbox.com

You say

email send and receive stopped two days or 3 days every month then come back again

Well you have some sort of problem, if you say the server was still powered up, then something is stopping access, eg was your Cisco firewall functioning, is it on a UPS ? was your router between the firewall & SME server functional, is it on a UPS ? Are you sure the Internet connection was stable & connected, have you checked logs during those 3 day periods ? Maybe you have faulty equipment that fails intermittently.
You really need a clever technician to help your resolve this.

The domain name of your mailserver appears to be
mserver.altawi.com.sa
Today if I put http://mserver.altawi.com.sa into Firefox I get a page which gives the standard SME server default message

Clearly your server at mserver.altawi.com.sa was not responding a few days ago when tested, & now it is.
There has to be a reason for this somewhere, & that is likely to be the source of your ongoing email delivery & sending issues (ie it was offline).

Firstly I would remove the second MX record for altawi.com.sa, mail will/should be queued on sending servers if mserver.altawi.com.sa is down.
Having the backup MX record is probably also the source of some of your mail delivery problems (ie mail was sent to a null destination on the server at altawi.com.sa or simply not processed at all when your server at mserver.altawi.com.sa was down or non responsive) ...... (but I assume which I am prone to do).

You need to find & prove what the problems are, we can only suggest & advise.
You need to get higher level technical support to help resolve your problems, I am sure I previously advised you of that need in other posts here.
We here have tried & advised many things, & you do not seem to respond to that advice, so time for you to find the answers your way.
Bye bye from me also.

Have you removed (deleted) the second MX record entry ?

The other mail server at altawi.com.sa appears to require authenticated smtp connection & that may mean it is not accepting mail sent to  mserver when mserver is down. That could explain your lost mail.
Mail will be queued in the originating server if mserver is down temporarily so you do not need a second MX record, as it is now the second MX record does not appear to be processing your mail, so best get rid of it.

Try running a smtp test on altawi.com.sa using mxtoolbox site & you will see the output.

As to why your mserver goes down or is inaccessible from the Internet periodically for a few days at a time I cannot say, you have to troubleshoot that.

Re-read my earlier posts if you do not understand the above & run some tests for yourself, you have all the website links needed.

No. Perhaps ahmedsa is deliberately wasting our time.
