sme9admin contrib
« on: August 31, 2014, 06:51:58 PM »
Hi,
I have installed sme9admin on my all new sme9 version on my server.
The daemon is not launching, just to correct this, you have to give execute permission to /usr/bin/sm9admind

[root@host bin]# chmod a+x sme9admind

After your graphs are working...

I see some problems with sme9admin parameters.

You can't specify network device, so the graphic is not working (edit : i don't know why, my network interface is eth0)
and it will be awesome if we can specify ssh port when it is not standard (22).

hi

the problem is coming from the bad permissions set in the sources : smeserver-sme9admin-1.5.tar.gz

You should download the src.rpm and rebuild the rpm, if you know how to do it or you should raise a bug!

good catch :)

something like that in spec should do the trick, a new version is coming

%attr(755,root,root) /usr/bin/sme9admind

but I know that  software is not exempt of bug, it needs time and skill.

Edit : smeserver-sme9admin-1.5-7.el6.sme.noarch.rpm released

I was going to try and install this contrib and received the following error when trying to still using the following statement
yum install smeserver-sme9admin --enablerepo=stephdl,epel  as if tried as yum install smeserver-sme9admin  returned as not found...

Quote
Error Downloading Packages:
gettext-libs-0.18.1.1-9.1.el6.x86_64: failure: x86_64/gettext-libs-0.18.1.1-9.1.el6.x86_64.rpm from stephdl: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Is this just a temporary issue of the required .rpm being removed from the stephdl repository?  is there a time frame for it to be restored so I can try to install this contrib again?

*EDIT*
Nevermind...It was just a temporary hickup in the mirrors as it finally work when re-running it a little bit later again

Will do Stephdl.  Thank you for all you do!

I have installed the contrib on my test server (similar to the one in my signature but it is a 2950 instead with 16gb of memory and a perc6i raid card running sme9_64bit).  Most things seem to be working fine in the contrib except I am not getting values for my network interfaces (eth0 & eth1) but I do get values in the "ping" section.  Also I am not getting values shown in the "hardware" section but when I run a check for sensors I do see temps for my memory as well as my cpus but can't seem to get them to be shown in the contrib.

Any suggestions for a *nix newbie?

You might want to take a look at the db settings of sme9admin. Not to change some of them immediately, but to get an understanding.

As root on the console, enter: config show sme9admind

I know that rpm is a bit buggy, it comes from long ago and it is a broken on some features

what I know it doesn't work

-sensors graphs (but my development is on virtual environment :( )
-swap graph
-traffic local network graph

does someone can add more things ?

I have planned to do some works on it but before I would finish : sogo-thunderbird, sogo, phpmyadmin (sme and neth), egroupware-epl I found a friend on it, thank Jean-louis)....and a bit more :)

For those who want to help and understand what is broken you have the source of my work here. I'm available to discuss on all issues and if you find....the next beer is for you.

Of course with the bugs hunt season which has reopened it is not easy to take time. Therefore if you  want that developers find time on software creation or reparation,  you could assist them in the bugzilla side. It is really interesting because you can understand and learn on your server system, and all developers have had  a start in bugzilla. You cannot remember but your first baby walk was more traumatising.

I'm quite sure that every people will take time to answer your questions on how, where, what to do in bugzilla. Please push the door.

re the network graphs, are eth0 and eth1 hard coded somewhere? Since the networking part changed in SME9, the NICS can have any name...

yeah it is probably the good reason....but sometimes data are fetched by rrdtools, but not displayed

see 'll /var/lib/sme9admin/'
