Viewing Office documents as attachments to a mail
« on: June 27, 2014, 12:57:19 PM »
Hello

I've read through the article exactly, but I can not deduce my problem. When I try to open a Word attachment from a mail client, the file can not be opened in a preview. The caching is done in the download folder. The properties of the document show with certainty that it must be admitted, because it was sent from another computer. Access is blocked for security reasons.

I got the hint from another thread to release the zip (Enabling Pattern Matching) at the virus scan, but without success.

Has anyone a tip for me that i can preview Doc-Files from attachment without save and change to filemanager?

greetings Detlev

I'm thinking this is an issue with your mail client and your client OS, not anything to do with SME server.

But pdf and other documents are open directly. And when i take Libre Office as a default Viewer, there view the Document also

Sorry, I forgot the tool, the Mailclient runs in Firefox (HTTPS). If I start the mail client in MS Explorer, then a security question appears. If this is confirmed properly called the document.

please define "mailclients".. horde/imp/Mimp or roundcube, sogo, zarafa?

in any case this is (as already told) a client issue, not a SME's one

So you're using a webmail app, not a client application?  Which webmail app are you using?  What, exactly, are you doing to try to open the document, and what, exactly, happens?

Stefano, if he's using webmail on the SME server, particularly if it is the horde suite, that could legitimately be an SME issue.  Of course, if he'd said that initially rather than "a mail client" (suggesting something like Outlook/Thunderbird/etc.), that would have clarified things considerably.

I use Outlook on a Terminal Server and eGroupware with felamimail as Clients. In Horde i can normal download the doc-File and open it with. On Clients without MS Office and libre Office, the doc-File is viewing direct in Libre Write as a inline windows. On Terminal_Server with MS Office and on normal Windows 8 Clients wis MS Office the file is blocking.

...and we're back to this being a client problem.  What makes you think this is a problem with the server?  The documents are being delivered, attached to the emails, but certain clients won't let you open them while others will.

I did not say that it is a problem to the server, I've been looking for the cause. The problem is the certificate and I must need to solve it.

Thanks for the help.

What certificate?  And if you don't think it's a problem with the server, why are you posting your question in the support forum for the server?

Hello DanB35

I can not see straight, that you can contribute something creative to my problem. Your comments are not constructive, will get us nowhere.

I'm sorry you feel that way.  I don't think your posts are very constructive either, in that they seem to be presenting unrelated facts and observations (e.g., blocking executable content at the server level has nothing to do with client behavior with respect to opening attachments), and withholding information that may be relevant to your issue (e.g., the certificate issue that you mentioned, but did not explain, for the first time in your last post).

I don't believe I can solve your problem, and I'm not attempting to.  What I am attempting to do is get the relevant information revealed so that, if this problem is anything to do with the SME server (which appears increasingly unlikely), somebody who does know the answer has a better chance of answering the question.  My second objective is to help you understand that you're most likely looking for help in the wrong place.  The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can begin to look for a more appropriate place to seek help, and therefore the sooner you can solve your problem.

you should stop using internet explorer at all and start using a real browser (anything different fromIE is better)

detlep,

I think the problem is that you are not describing the situation very well.

You first mention that you can't open documents, and then mention a certificate error.

Having just looked at the thread, I am as confused as the rest !

Can you clearly describe what the problem is and we can then try and help you.

I can see you mention this :

Quote
On Terminal_Server with MS Office and on normal Windows 8 Clients wis MS Office the file is blocking.

and

Quote
The problem is the certificate and I must need to solve it.

Can you try and describe exactly what happens a little more clearly please.

What OS does it occur in, which browser, what the error is etc etc

I'm sorry that I made here for confusion.

The problem is that currently there are none problems.

It concerned the files attached to DOC and XLS mails from Outllok out - and only here. If the user wanted to open these files in Preview or in the program, an error message was generated. If i look at the files more details, as could be determined that this cached in a temporary directory. Another information in details was to an invalid certificate, and it is blocked . Actually the problems isn't and i must find out what action has corrected this problem.
