good. so here is my problem. this is what i have

1. a global IP and domain registered.

my problem
1. internal email's work, i can send mail to the external world, but then a send mail from the internet to my domain, the mail cant be delivered. their is a typical delay of one day and i get an error saying the the mail couldnt be delivered.

2. when i do http://x.x.x.x (where x.x.x.x is my global ip) from the internet i am not able to see my site. i get an error saying that page not found.

now when i enter the server manager and click on review configuration it showns my DNS server IP as local IP. Shouldnt it should it as a global IP? I do not understand where am i going wrong

Sounds like you either don't have any DNS configured for your domain (needs to be done with an ISP) or your ISP is blocking inbound port 80 and port 25.

Have you read the manual?

No.

i just ran a port scanner for my IP and found that port 25 and 80 are open. for the time being lets asume that i dont have DNS configured for my domain. now if i do http://x.x.x.x (x.x.x.x = my global ip) i get an error 500 server error. why?

is your sme server behind a firewall?? If yes then you have to direct the port 80 if no then trouble.

If you can do a portscan and uyou arnt using a firewall then your sme server answered and reported that the ports are open.

If it still doesnt work then post again...maybe someone else has an idea

How have you got the router setup

Is it setup to pass all tcpip request to your Sme box.

Do you have the router pluged into the sme box of is the router setup on the lan and is the default gateway.

Need more information

If you ahve the router connected directley to the Sme box and you have two plubic Ip addrerss one on the router inside and one on the sme out side with this setup all request to the router will be passed on to the Sme box. If you have a privte ip address on the inside of the router then you will have to setup Port forwarding in the router.

Regard's

Internet --------(ISP Asigned Ip Address)IDSN line on Router ethnet on router has a Gobal ip address then connected to ------ SME Box on ETH0(has a Gobal IP Address)

Eth1 is then connected to your LAN with a 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x

is this correct

the gobal ip address is given to you by your Isp and can you ping them from outside your network
