are you asking for what? feedback? support?
if your hw is RH5 certified then it will work flawlessly with SME

Nether, I though my question was clear, I was just wondering if anyone has anyone installed SME8 on a Dell PowerEdge R710? No need to jump on me, this forum can be very unfriendly at times. Tell me Stefano "Why did you answer my question"?

John

stephdl,

Your reply has only confirmed my point. He did NOT answer the question I posted, that is all I wanted, nothing more nothing less. You then reply not in English.

Why so much hate Mr Stefano takes his time to answer, he practices an Englishman who is not his mother tongue and may be that actually it does control all the nuances of the language.
I would ask you to respect it, as well as all people who give their time free here to run this community.

Thank you in advance.
Regards,

John

Just to intend that i'm not an  English native and it takes me effort to speak, to read, to understand, and me also i do not have all nuances that the English language has.

Please reconsider your attitude and assume that your question was tiny.

PS: google translate is really horrible :)

You have proven my point -----------------This forum can be a very unfriendly place.

Nobody forced him to answer the question, and by the way he did not, he was trying to be superior and a smarty.

Don’t reply as I will not be using this forum any more you can have it to your self!!!

I would like a moderator to remove my account if that is possible, thank you.
Regards,

John

According the documentation http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter4

you should take a look to https://hardware.redhat.com/RHEL5 and see if you hw is compatible

Please take a big breath...i do not have better in answer.

Has anyone installed SME8 on a Dell PowerEdge R710?

Well, I am not a power user, or a linux guru,

but a google brings me here, http://linux.dell.com/files/supportmatrix/RHEL_Support_Matrix.pdf

So i think a really good awnser to his question is;
"Well i dont know i dont have that hardware, BUT seen the specs, it will just run fine on that hardware of you"

First a user needs to now what to look for, i know that SME/Mintel has a RedHad kernel,
I know we noops need to read, most of us does, but if you don't know the words, or technical name etc, it becomes hard to do.

Thanks for the google search HomePlayer, nice signature, indeed sometime it is more harder to define his question than search for it.

please see your signature, i thing you made a typo on "mintel".

good morning/afternoon/whatever..

I did answer your question, my friend.. but, feeling unsure of the issue/problem/curiosity you are (maybe) experiencing, I asked you to refine your question..

that's all..

this forum is not unfriendly..
your question was vague, my answer couldn't be precise.. it's something like "how's the weather?", "fine, thanks"

and, of course, I didn't want to jump on you, I have no reason to do so.. If I had, I would have answered something like "maybe"

we are talking about installing a server distribution into a server class hw.. it's a "semi professional" forum/place, isn't it?

so, I apologize.. I didn't want to be unfriendly, to jump on you and so on.. but, please, next time, try to make a question, thank you
