eGroupware issues?
« on: December 06, 2013, 08:59:52 PM »
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong here, so please by all means point me at existing help (but I was unable to find any).

eGW 1.6 installed on SME8 i386, following the instuction on the contrib page.

1. My understanding is that users can log-in to eGroupware with their system account? None are able to :-/

2. Logging-in with the admin account, there is no email. I click the Email menu option, but it just goes to a completely empty page  :???:

Have I missed some configuration?

Thanks,
Graham

not sure that contribs is actively maintained, if not a warning should be written on the wiki page

See http://wiki.contribs.org/Koozali_Foundation
irc : Freenode #sme_server #sme-fr

!!! Please write your knowledge to the Wiki !!!

Might be worthwhile waiting a short time as the contrib is being updated to the latest version 1.8

or follow te bug details and install as is, http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8040

I used egroupware before on sme7 & it worked fine.
IIRC there was some required configuration to get it to behave as you expect.
I do not know if it is buggy or not with sme8, but you do need to do some setting up in the egroupware admin pages.

Email with a blank screen sounds familiar.
So I suggest you slowly work through all the egroupware admin configuration settings for each module, starting with the users & groups/category & mail setup.
IIRC there were different mail modules that could be loaded too.

Thanks Janet. I'm going to wait for the updated contrib as without doubt I'll make a hash of something along the way

...well perhaps just a minor prod and poke in the admin section

Re blank screen on email, I just tried the rpm & I get the same outcome. Reminds me of php errors/problems in the past.
So...

Did you login to the setup admin URL & run Check Installation.
When I do that I see it complains that php-pear is not installed & this affects the mail client amongst other things.
php-pear is installed according to
rpm -q php-pear
so maybe it is an incorrect version or all the necessary modules are not installed.

There are a number of errors about pear modules, so this is probably the cause of the mail (& any other) issue.

I do not have further time to look at this tonight so maybe you can take a look for yourself.
Search forum & google on installing pear or php-pear modules
