Want to help ?
« on: February 04, 2013, 07:02:30 PM »
Cross posted to try and catch as many people as possible again as I feel this is important. Not everyone subscribes to every list, and some don't subscribe at all.

Will post in the forums too.

Today I received the following mail copied below. It sums up the barriers we have to breakdown to get new users on board. I am sure the writer is correct and he is not alone.

Fortunately (or maybe not in his case now!) he decided to write to me and for some help so he could help us..... his new tasks arrive shortly :-)

So, for anyone else out there, don't be afraid to ask a question. If you don't want to look silly mailing on a list then email me personally, or chat on IRC.

What *IS* great is that I have had a couple of these now. That is promising because it means people are being set a fantastic example, and feel brave enough to come forward.

Lets keep up the good work.

"A newbie question.

Which is the first web page should I start reading which will gently lead me into the rather complex shorthand language you all use.

I have used Linux for 15 years and SME since version 6.5 but have found entry into the logic of the bugs etc to be mystifying.  I am convinced it is stopping others from volunteering. "

4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
