DNS Resolve issue?
« on: February 02, 2013, 02:11:44 AM »
I am hosting my website with Go Daddy.  Yesterday I tried to add the SSL Certificate to my e-commerce site. Go daddy said I had to have a dedicated IP address.  (I am hosting 2 sites I guess with a single IP address?).

Go Daddy assigned a different IP address to my e-commerce site to be able to add the SSL certificate.  So they configured everything on their end. I guess the DNS is resolved because today anyone can access my site from the outside, but I can not access the site behind my sme 7.1.1 server.

Is there something I need to change on the SME server?

Thanks in advance...

is your SME in Server & Gateway mode?
are you using http proxy?

My first guess is that you have defined the domain oemsupplies.com in your SME server, then programmed the external IP address for the host 'www.oemsupplies.com'.

Verify:
- look in 'hostnames' and 'domains' in server-manager; if there's an entry for www.oemsupplies.com, I'm right

Fix:
- set the correct (new) IP address for www.oemsupplies.com in your SME server.

It sounds to me like you have that same externally hosted domain name, also setup as the main domain on your sme server, can you confirm if that is correct or not ?

Also check the server manager Domains panel & see if that domain is set to resolve DNS locally. If so, change it to resolve to Internet DNS servers (or similar, I forget the exact name).

I am using SME 7.5.1

You should upgrade to sme 7.6 (yum update) & then upgrade to sme 8.0 (using CD), so you avoid security issues & ensure there are no bugs in your system etc, but this has nothing to do with your problem.

Yes I do have the same external domain name you re correct. I did change the domain to Internet DNS servers.. So currently I am able to see my website however now it is showing https://www.oemsupplies.com instead of http://www.oemsupplies.com.  This is only behind the server. Other computers outside the server show http://www.oemsupplies.com.. I know know the S. is because of my ssl certificate.  Is there a setting I should change..

Thank you everyone for you input. I really appreciate it
