Hello, I've started having trouble sending email to multiple domains. I'm getting multiple errors back from remote email servers. Examples:

Remote host said: 500 Unrecognized command
Remote host said: 500 Syntax error, unrecognized command - psmtp
Remote host said: 502 Unimplemented command.

I just rebooted the server and tried sending an email to one of my external accounts and got one of the bounce messages. I'm starting to look through the logs but any guidance would be appreciated.

Ok, I'm having some trouble receiving too. It looks like the server keeps throwing 'Unrecognized command' errors on at least some incoming email:

 521 Closing connection. 4 unrecognized commands.  Perhaps you should read RFC 2821?

I'll continue to look through the logs.

Found some more log entries that might help someone more experienced. These are from an email I sent from my live.com account. SME says unrecognized commands of 'received:', '   ', and 'x-eip:'

I'm also having trouble sending external emails but internal ones on our domain are working. Is this just some sort or parsing error by SME?

Ok, I did a fresh install of version 7.6. I have not restored a backup yet. I created one user to test and I'm getting the same unrecognized command errors:

Also getting relaying denied errors:

I'm going to do a restore in case those settings matter. I'm starting to wonder if it's my firewall or ISP?

Whoops. Looks like it was my untangle box hosing things up. Wish I would have checked that earlier ....
