Slice of Pi anyone?
« on: November 09, 2012, 04:19:20 PM »
Hi there

We've packaged SarkV4 for the little Raspberrypi and it runs surprisingly well.  So, for 30 bucks or thereabouts for a Raspi, you can have a full version of SARK on it to play with.

I've put the installation instructions onto the wiki (see the link), it's dead easy to install, even if you've never played with an embedded system before.  Give it a go; it's great fun.

Kind Regards

Hi,

Tried to install on my Iomega Iconnect (debian squeeze) and got:

root@iconnect:~# dpkg -i sailhpe_4.0.0-18_armhf.deb
dpkg: error processing sailhpe_4.0.0-18_armhf.deb (--install):
package architecture (armhf) does not match system (armel)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 sailhpe_4.0.0-18_armhf.deb

Is there a way to install it on (armel) ?

yes there is a sarkhpe-armel image on the download site - just use that instead.
If you are running squeeze then you will get Asterisk 1.6 but other than that it should just run.  We've run it on Squeeze during development. Also, our own Arm box (which is just coming out of development) is armel, tho' it runs wheezy.

let me know how you get on.

You will need to to hand-compile asterisk on the target machine and then install sark with the --force-depends option (it will complain that asterisk is not installed otherwise).   As far as I know, app_rpt only runs with asterisk 1.4 (wheezy will install 1.8 if you use apt-get).   Also, we've only tested on arm5 and arm6l so if your cpu gives a different signature your mileage may vary.

Interesting project, let us know how you get on

Kind Regards

We've found an error in the maintainer scripts in sail_4.0.0-18.all.deb.   They will cause problems if you attempt an upgrade on this release.  However, as long as you remove the -18 release before you install a later release then all will be OK.  I have placed a note to this effect and a "what to do if you've attempted an upgrade"  onto the download library.

Kind Regards

No idea

We just built it for fun. I guess you'd have to try it and see. It runs pretty well tho' so I guess you'd get enough for a small office or a home PBX.  Maybe if you test it you could let us know how you get on with it.

Kind Regards

I didn't found the SME version compiled for the Raspberry. Did I missed something? ;-)

Fun, this is brilliant, as our colonial brothers would say "Thanks for sharing it with us"
