You do not send e-mail thru your SME server.
You send it using your ISP mail.

And remember to disable mail proxy in proxy from server-manager panel.

what are you using as smtp server on your clients : your sme server or the external ?

Hi Jader,
Our client workstation are directly accessing their email through SME with Horde Webmail,
the proxy server is already disable.

since on client directly access the mail through SME horde webmail,
there are no SMTP configure on the client.

sorry... i miss that point... you're just downloading all e-mail to your domain from a single mailbox at your ISP. That's right ?

If it's that, you should be able to send email using horde/imp.
MAYBE your e-mail do not arrive because of anti spam technics... but most of time the destiny mail server reply with an 5xx error.
Do you get any messages back?

Can you send e-mail to another account inside your domain ?

What is the mode your sme server is configured for, ie server and gateway, server only, or private server ?

You need to answer whether you can send email to other sme server user accounts that are on the local network, ie internal LAN, using webmail.

Also is the inability to send emails only applying to sending messages to external email addresses ?
Does this apply to all emails sent to external addresses or only some ?

If you are using a seperate firewall than sme server (ie where sme server is in server only mode, then are you sure that appropriate ports are open on your firewall for outgoing smtp traffic.
Also is your server configured to use your ISP's smtp mail server ?

Have you looked at the log files to see why messages are not being delivered, look at sqpsmtpd & qpsmtpd & qmail (current) log files

Hi Marry,
my server mode is "Server Only",
and the server are behind the Firewall, all the port are already allowed (base on mail usage only)

the sme server as primary for our client to accessing their external mail, and also send the mail through sme server,
(send to external mail, or send to other server/domain as a normal webmail)

here is the log i got form 'qmail/current'

2012-09-21 15:58:34.068912500 delivery 507: deferral: Connected_to_127.0.0.1_but_greeting_failed./Remote_host_said:_451_Upstream_SMTP_server_not_available/

That seems to be your problem.
Have you specified an external smtp server for your ISP in the server manager Email panel ?
Do you have a Delegate mail server configured (refer to sme FAQ for details of this) ?
Have you contacted your ISP to ask them why you are getting this error message ?

Exactly what ports are allowed ?
Have you port forwarded ports to your sme server for mail services, and if so, what ports ?
Do you have outgoing mail ports open on your firewall, what ports are they ?
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

onnected_to_127.0.0.1_but_greeting_failed./Remote_host_said:_451_Upstream_SMTP_server_not_available/

This indicates that the TCP connection to your specified SMTP SmartHost failed. Either you have specified it incorrectly, or it is not running, or it is not reachable from your server.
