Hi all,
(*** No advertisement or commercial intentions ***)
just wanted to mention that I successfully installed SMEServer 8.0 on a VPS (Virtual Private Server)
I played with this before (see
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6603) on a Xen setup. Although it worked with the beta releases, the final would not boot, and finally gave up on this with Linode.com.
I now have a VPS running with
www.edis.at (data centers all over the world) and they provide KVM based VPS. SMEServer 8.0 installed flawlessly, 2 NIC's detected and runs happy in dedicated server gateway mode (VPN connections on the LAN side). Yum updated, including latest kernel, no issues.
edis.at set me up with a VPS (I chose
http://en.edis.at/kvm-basic_62_82.htm) and the staff downloaded the final SMEServer 8.0 ISO for me and listed it as one of the many available options to boot from. How's that for a service?!
The only glitch I had was Grub, 'file not found' error (see
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,48149.0.html) but due to the sharing of info, got that resolved.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know.
