Is a more current build of Wordpress now included in any of the recent Server 8 Betas?  If not why not?  It's better to eliminate it completely if any new builds of the beta include a sub-standard Wordpress build.

SME does NOT include Wordpress or any other "contrib type applications" in the base code. Including these would mean more work for the developers to ensure every included contrib/application is compatible etc.

Contribs are purposely not included in the base code so that they can be seperately maintained by willing individuals.

There is nothing stopping you from installing Wordpress, just go to the Wordpress web site and follow their generic installation instructions. Same applies to any other apps.

If the requesites to install wordpress 3.2 on sme8 are satisfied, just do it : http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.2


As far as sme8 will remain beta no contributors will work to update their contribs to be only sme8 compatible, if smeserver-wordpress is still with an old version this is because sme 7 is still with php4 and is the production version.

I would expect all contributors to be ensuring that their contrib is compatible with both sme7 and sme8, and if it is not, to produce two versions, one for sme7 and one for sme8.

as looking http://wiki.contribs.org/SME8.0_Contribs_QA there is some steps before having this, and also some steps to have sme8 in production.
