Topic: I cant install Webcalendar on an Ibay or /opt - Lamp issues

All is done on 2 smeserver 7.5.1.
When i try to install Webcalendar 1.2.3 at the database config screen a get a blank page, and when i refresh i get the same database form but blank, i fill it again and then try to install the data on database and i get errors ( "dbi_connect (): db_type not defined." ). So i am going to the console and see the settings file of Webcalendar, it is empty. Ok start all the process again but this time loging the settings file, the file is allways ok, but when i put "test Settings" on database form, the file going to empty. First i think the the problems was the webcalendar installer, but i install webcalendar without problems on an ubuntu server with lamp installed, So i think that the problem was the ibay, so i try to installed in /opt on smeserver but i get the same erros.
Ok so i try on other smeserver with the same problems.

Anybody can help me?

I have to add, that in the past (2 years ago) i have installed webcalendar 1.0.5 without problems. And now i also thy to install that version (1.0.5) but with the same errors that with the version 1.2.3

My first guess would be to check the webserver log files for clues, most likely /var/log/httpd/error_log might give you some clues. If not you can also enable the display of error messages to your browser window, instructions for that can be found in the wiki: http://wiki.contribs.org/PHP#Display_Error_Messages

Since we can not look into your system, you will have to do that part yourself. If you have difficulties understanding the errors in your log or on the screen, you can post them here. The past has proven that most of the issues can be solved as a community effort.

I have Webcalendar running well in an ibay - but on SME 8.0 beta6.
SME 8 has php 5.2x while SME 7.5x runs PHP4 by default. This may be the cause - check their website re calendar versions and php requirements perhaps?

OK, i enable the php display errors, and nothing appear in the browser only the blank page, and the file settings.php going to empty.
Also use tail to log "/var/log/httpd/error_log" but nothing was logged there during the fail install.

I think that something is wrong in version smeserver 7.5.1 because like i say before 2 years ago in these 2 system i have installed the same program without problems. And in 1 ubuntu server i have not problems rigth now.

I have to say that in phpmyadmin i have a message that say something like "cant load crypt extension, please look at php config"

That could be a clue for the problem??

Thanks but in the webpage of webcalendar say that it needs php.4.3.x and mysql 4, and like i say before i have be able to install this program in the past, but not rigth now.

Ok, thanks, i solve this with these links but like i say in the past i have installed webcalendar 1.0.5 in smeserver without problems, and rigthnow i couldnt. I know now that the problem is with the version of php (4.3.x) and when i said "a problem in smeserver" i try to said that some update in the last 3 years did that the soft not work, in this case php 4.3.9, is not and smesever problem ok, sorry about it.

i installed  WebCalendar-1.2.5 on sme 7.5.1 by just exploding the zipped file from the internet into a ibay
the ibay i used did have the php5 contrib applied to it in prior months
i am just now testing the software
i set it to use the sqlite database setup
there seemed a problem trying to use the other database setups
it used the sqlite setup because i do not  have time to try other setup databases.
i have not even read a manual on webcalendar and we testing the program to see if our people like it or not.
