navigation.htm missing in SAL 3.1.0-100
« on: January 24, 2011, 08:30:42 PM »
The SAIL v3.1.0-100 does not have the file:
/opt/navigation.htm

The existing one from a previous version install has the Tool Tip Edit and Wiki menu items commented out. On uncommenting them, they bring up the respective pages - the former in frame and the latter as a new window. The Tool Tip Edit allows editing the existing entries but does not have a button to create new entry.

Hello

re /opt/navigation.htm
navigation.htm is provided by the relevant support rpm (either smesailenv, el5sailenv).  It is different for each platform and has different line entries.  It is not present in the sail rpm.

re tooltips
A tooltip has to be referenced by code so if you were to create a tooltip then you would need to develop new code to use it, which is fine if you want to develop the product but most users don't.  On the other hand, you can change an existing tooltip (perhaps to enhance it or change the language) and such changes will persist across releases.

Kind Regards
S

There are 2 sailenv files:
el5sailenv-1.0.0-5.noarch.rpm dated 29-Nov-2010 17:47
and
smesailenv-1.0.0-18.noarch.rpm dated 05-Dec-2010 12:58

Which one should we use where? Is it the latter for the SME Server 7 and 8 and the former for a CentOS standalone install?

The former has the tooltip edit menu link commented out while both have the Wiki link commented out.

Can one be installed over (overwriting) the other or must the existing one be removed before installing the other?

In the sailenv rpms, the file navigation.htm is present in the /opt/sark/cache folder instead of the /opt/sark/www/ folder - is it okay?

smesailenv is for SME 8, el5sailenv is for Centos 5.5

No - one is for SME server, the other is for Centos

navigation.htm is present in the /opt/sark/cache  folder
That is correct. It gets moved during the install.

Kind Regards
