Your system administrator can enable voicemail on your extension. You will be given a 4 digit password, which you will need in order to access your voicemailbox to retrieve messages. Once your voicemail account has been activated, and depending upon the particular make and model of telephone handset you have, you will be alerted when you have new voicemail in your inbox either; by a flashing message waiting lamp on your phone or by the presence of an icon in the display. Consult your phone's user manual for the exact details for your phone. Optionally, depending upon the set-up of the phone, you may also hear a couple of seconds of "stuttering" dial-tone when you lift the receiver

But I can see where this is setup. Under the extensions you can only set "Deliver Vmail to" and "User to receive email notifications".

I can see where you set voice mail passwords or setup where the whole message or just notification is sent to you.

Advanced  voicemail setup is specified using the Asterisk voicemail.conf file and managed (in sail-2.x) in the headers panel of SAIL.
