Connecting my Softphone to my Asterisk box (via FreePBX)
« on: September 11, 2010, 02:10:34 PM »
Been a total VOIP noob I'm at a total loss. How do I connect my softphone to my system.

Surely the IP of the PBX should be that if my SME box ... but that doesn't seem to work

My settings can be seen here: http://www.internetlinked.com/downloads/FreePBX.jpg

I don't know FreePBX, but i would try this :

FreePBX : In the permit-field : 192.168.199.0/255.255.255.0
3CX : Don't use the STUN-server
3CX : The local port must be the same as in FreePBX (5060)
3CX : RTP-ports : 10000:20000

F.

It still won't connect..... I am right in using the IP of the SME server as the IP for the PBX (as this is the box that it's installed on).

FreePBX gives me an "Asterisk CLI" how can I test to see what's happening?

At present all I want to do is to connect two SoftPhone to my system and make a calls between them. Once I have that right I will try configure dialling out and in.

Here are some of my Asterisk logs.. not sure what they all mean but there is reference to some issues with the extension... but its not very clear to me  :???:

Also it may have nothing to do with the connecting issue.

Given up on FreePBX... it seems that the extensions that I created through its interface didn't appear to reflect in the Extensions menu under the Telephony section... think I'll try using Asterisk directly.

Got the SoftPhone to connect and could make internal calls..... not trying to connect to my external line. When I dial externally, my softphone returns declined which in short is the message you get if you dial a non-existent extension.

I've plugged my telephone line into the FXO card and set up a route. If I've understood things, I've set it up so that when I dial the area code 09, it dials out.

When some calls in, extension 201 rings. How do I change it to 200?
