Please specify if you mean asterix or asterisk. If the first one please send a link to the project if you mean asterisk try:
yum install asterisk14 asterisk14-addons ... --enablerepo=smecontribs

there very nice info on twiki at sarkpbx.com
you can find there information for installing with yum or from the sources

information are also on voip-info.org and asterisk.org

in that case try use search on google and this forum.

There plenty of examples about asterisk implemetations.

Don't know what you mean. So please sepcify your problem

lol can't believe I spelt it wrong.... but you have sort of answered my question anyway... thanks :-)

I thought that like some of the other applications, Asterisk could be automatically install as part of the install but I was wrong... so I will probably continue using my sperate Trixbox install for that app...

Cheers

I strongly recomend you to use sail. I've tried to use trixbox and sail and sail won. It is bullet proof. I've got approx 35 sails running and no problem with that. Additionaly IT uses (not for long) sme data base system so it is well integrated with sme and you can do miracles for example with tftp and dhcp servers. Provisioning 100 phones ? Hm that's the question. Extremly easy. And more more more stuff.

Hi, thanks for that.... been searching the forums but still  battling for clear direction. All I could find was

- wget http://ftp://81.149.154.14/CurrentStableRelease/selintra-sail-<latest version>.rpm
- yum localinstall <latest version>.rpm

Three questions:
1) Is the above all I need to do?
2) I have not yet added my FXO card (I think thats what its call.... still new at the VOIP stuff) as it is in my Trixbox build. If I want to add it to my SME box, how do I install it? Once its plugged in can I run something that will automatically install it or should I reinstall my SME configuration?

Simple questions I know... but hey I need to ask them :-)

Cheers

Easy easy.
First is it production server or test one.
Which asterisk you have. If lower than 1.4.28 then you should use sail 2.4 if higher than use sail 2.5
sail 3 is quite fresh so it is not recommended for peoduction enviroment. Please read carefully instalation notes on sarkpbx.com/twiki
which kernel you have? Do you install proper dahdi with kmdls??
Pci cards can be added any time you want but I will kindly ask you read manual. It very well described howto do this and how to do that. There is no sense to copy manual from Jeff to forum. So please do it. There are no stupid questions so don't hasite to ask but try use manual couse there is risk that you can get RTFM answer :-)
