Since SME Server 7.4 is based on CentOS 4.x which in turn is based on RHEL 4.x I doubt it will work.

so far everything has installed except this: (libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386.rpm)
I don't want to hose the server, do you know if the Failed dependencies below can safely be installed in order to install the libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386.rpm

[root@raidersrvr mono]# rpm -Uhv  libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386.rpm
warning: libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 85f3a353
error: Failed dependencies:
        libexif.so.12 is needed by libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386
        libpng12.so.0(PNG12_0) is needed by libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386
        rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by libgdiplus0-1.9-2.1.i386

Try posting your question in the Simply Accounting's Online Community Linux forum!  Unfortunately I'm not well versed enough with Linux to offer direct advice but the forum is frequented by both users who have installed the Linux Connection Manager as Simply Accounting's development team.

If you want to keep your sanity, try this only on a test server running SME 8.0beta. You are very unlikely to get it running on SME 7.X.

I got the Connector to install but cannot get the Simply databases to open on the client through samba share. Best to take Charlie's advice. The connector is meant for RedHat/Centos 5 and SME 7 is RedHat/Centos 4 based.

Dillagaf if you want to get connector installed.

Install Mono (http://wiki.contribs.org/Mono)
Install MySQL ODBC 3.51 for Linux rpm
Install SimplyConnector rpm

I did a "yum localinstall <name>.rpm" to install the rpm's
