Online Backup
« on: March 24, 2010, 03:33:38 PM »
Hi there

I would like to hear whether it is possible to use online backup with SME Server. In the sense that the serverbackup will be placed on an online-backup-provider. Now I use my dekstop to online-backup things on my server(i use Idrive), but that is not an optimal solution...

Thanks
/Michael Larsen

I use databax

http://www.databax.co.uk

It uses the IBM tivoli client, which has a Linux variant which runs under Smeserver sucessfully (they provide rpms for red hat)

Restore is a command line job though!

You can also use any backup service that uses Ahsay backup servers.  The Java part is a bit tricky to get working and it is all commandline but works well.
In life, you must either "Push, Pull or Get out of the way!"

I have a co located server and i backup up my sme's to that using the excellent affa.

I wouldnt mind helping a few out with remote backup using affa as long as the bandwidth and stoarage demands wernt too high.

I also use a sme box at work and home for backing up to. The colo backup up every hour or so, and the remote dsl ones backup every night.

this has also reminded me i need to make a contribution.
